Software development platform Blacksmith secured a $66 million Series C funding round led by Sequoia on Wednesday, pushing the valuation of the firm to $1 billion.
Aditya Jayaprakash, co-founder and chief executive officer of Blacksmith, stated during the funding announcement that the enterprise launched to make continuous integration, known as the process of building, testing, merging, and validating code changes, less painful. He mentioned in a blog post that most businesses struggle to keep pace with the necessary volume of continuous integration, particularly during a period when artificial intelligence generates vast amounts of code.
“As agents write more of the world's software, the question that matters is whether it can be trusted,” Jayaprakash said.
The enterprise reported that its annual recurring revenue increased 17 times and that it executed over 90 million continuous integration jobs, defined as individual automated code checks. Mercury and Granola serve as customers.
This Series C financing arrives only two months after a $45 million Series B round valued the business at $550 million. Blacksmith held a valuation of $60 million one year ago following a $10 million Series A raise, bringing its total funds raised to $125 million.
