Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhary announced in the National Assembly on Monday that infrastructure work in Islamabad sector C-15 has reached roughly 60 per cent completion, as land acquisition efforts near completion to let owners receive their plots.
Answering a Calling Attention Notice from MNA Naeema Kishwer Khan about late balloting and plot allocations in sectors like C-15, he admitted that long delays by the Capital Development Authority have worried rightful owners.
Multiple sectors have stayed unfinished for decades, he noted. Pointing to sector E-12, he explained that despite launching the project in 1985 and issuing allocation letters in 1992, buyers waited years for physical possession.
Authorities have made major headway in sector E-12 lately, giving out possession for roughly 4,068 plots across the last one to one-and-a-half months, according to the minister.
Furthermore, illegal commercial land in the same sector has been cleared. Those retrieved commercial plots carry a value above Rs200 billion, and selling them will fund further building work across Islamabad, he stated.
Through reforms inside the Capital Development Authority, the administration is pushing forward construction and possession efforts in C-15 as well as other areas such as E-14.
To speed up stalled projects, a new board member has been assigned solely to supervise sector development and tackle related challenges.
The minister shared optimism that the success seen in E-12 will spread to other neighborhoods. Authorities intend to deliver possession and settle pending matters across more sectors step by step.
He conceded that illegal occupations, reported corruption involving certain Capital Development Authority staff and local groups, and fake property claims created the previous bottlenecks for allocations and possession.
The administration is tackling these challenges to speed up construction so buyers can finally get their land, he concluded.
