The Capital Development Authority (CDA) announced that 51% of the construction on the Rs. 1.4 billion Kashmir Chowk Underpass in Islamabad is finished, a milestone reached in just over two weeks. The project is slated for completion by the end of the first week of November.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the underpass on October 6, setting a 30-day deadline for its delivery. The structure is intended to ease traffic jams and boost connectivity between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

A CDA official said work is moving at an exceptional speed to meet the target.

CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf inspected the site, reviewing civil and structural activities and the overall progress.

During his visit, he instructed the project management and engineering teams to keep up the current pace while maintaining quality and safety standards.

He also called for stronger coordination, efficient resource use, and ongoing monitoring to guarantee timely completion.

In a separate effort, the CDA has broadened its solid waste management services to cover 65 union councils, mainly in Islamabad's Zones IV and V.

The rollout includes Bhara Kahu and other rural and suburban localities that previously lacked proper sanitation facilities.

The program seeks to solve long-standing waste-handling problems and give residents of underserved areas a cleaner, healthier environment.
