Power Minister Awais Leghari stated during an inspection visit that construction has begun to upgrade Dera Ghazi Khan Airport so it can handle international flight operations.
Authorities have set aside Rs. 5.5 billion for this initiative, which targets completion by January 2028 to enhance local air connectivity and improve facilities.
Awais Leghari examined current construction progress during his tour and listened to briefings from staff members. Civil Aviation Authority crews are executing these improvements, which feature runway enlargement.
These scheduled enhancements seek to meet standards required for international aviation. Additional infrastructure and facility upgrades form part of the renovation plan.
Local residents in Dera Ghazi Khan and surrounding districts may gain easier entry to global aviation services through this initiative. Travelers from this zone currently must visit bigger cities for international journeys.
Enhanced air links may also boost local commerce by simplifying transport for commercial travelers, expatriates, visitors, and other commuters, connecting regional groups with domestic and foreign locations.
Passenger and plane handling capabilities should increase after finishes are applied.
Civil Aviation Authority personnel maintain construction and technical tasks. Officials plan to track progress to keep the timeline on schedule for January 2028.
