Pakistan delivery and quick-commerce platform foodpanda rolled out an advanced telematics Rider Safety feature inside its mobile app. Sentiance, a global behavioural intelligence provider, collaborated on the development to supply delivery workers with clear driving visibility, personalised safety insights, and actionable coaching.
Embedded directly in the rider application, the technology uses Sentiance mobile SDK. By running on-device edge computing, the app processes raw smartphone motion sensors locally using GPS, accelerometer, and gyroscope data while shifts are active. This local processing ensures strict data privacy, low battery usage, and no manual work for riders.
A dedicated Safety Center inside the app houses processed insights like a personalised Safe Trip Rate alongside customized safety recommendations meant to promote defensive driving, lower road hazards, and build long term fleet safety. foodpanda uses these metrics to spot delivery partners holding lower safety scores and offers guidance to help them improve driving habits over time.
This telematics safety score remains strictly educational and supportive. The metric brings zero automated impacts regarding rider performance metrics, order batching, or earnings, which maintains a constructive setting centered on driver self-awareness and accident prevention.
Ahsan Malik, who serves as Director Logistics foodpanda Pakistan, stated, "The physical safety and wellbeing of our delivery partners is a top priority for foodpanda." Malik added, "By integrating Sentiance's behavioral intelligence into our rider app, we are converting everyday smartphones into proactive safety tools. Closing the feedback loop between how riders go through urban traffic and the insights they receive allows us to create a stronger safety culture across Pakistan's roads, without placing any administrative or financial pressure on our fleet."
Deploying telematics safety coaching highlights foodpanda dedication to rider welfare and fleet resilience by using Delivery Hero global technology scale to establish new safety benchmarks throughout the quick-commerce industry in Pakistan.
