Authorities in Islamabad shut down the H-9 and G-6 weekly markets starting October 16 until proper fire safety measures are fully implemented, according to 24NewsHD TV Channel.

The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad issued an official closure notification after receiving approval from its Chief Officer through the Directorate of Municipal Administration.

The directive states that markets must secure fire safety clearance from Capital Emergency Services, which functions under the Capital Development Authority, before they can reopen.

Both locations stay shut until workers put all required safety protocols in place and officials grant formal approval.

A fire erupted at the H-9 weekly bazaar earlier on Wednesday, which allegedly started during welding activities as vendors set up shutter gates, though investigators have not yet confirmed the precise cause.

The flames ruined 133 stalls out of a total of 2,800 in the marketplace. Officials intend to activate the H-9 Sunday Bazaar fire station within a week and fix electrical and backup power hazards.
