The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday linked the ongoing direct recruitment of federal police Inspectors to the final decision in a pending case. Justice Ayyaz Shaukat delivered the written order while hearing a petition filed by 39 Sub-Inspectors (SIs).

The petitioners contested a Ministry of Interior notification and a Public Service Commission advertisement that announced direct recruitment to the Inspector post.

Their lawyer argued that direct recruitment to the post conflicted with the Police Order, stating that the law does not allow appointments through this method and warning that proceeding could result in appointments violating the prescribed legal procedure.

In reply, the court sent notices to the interior secretary, Inspector General of Islamabad Police, additional inspector general, chief commissioner, deputy secretary of the MoI, and the Public Service Commission, directing them to provide their responses.

The recruitment process will now stay pending the final outcome of the case.
