Pakistan digital services platform JazzWorld signed a Letter of Intent with UNICEF to investigate programs focused on digital inclusion, youth empowerment, online safety, and technology-enabled humanitarian response throughout Pakistan.
The planned alliance combines the technological, connectivity, innovation, and advocacy strengths of both entities to review scalable projects aiding children, young people, women, and marginalized populations. As artificial intelligence transforms education, employment, and service delivery, broader digital access and skills are required so these groups can engage in and gain from a digital world.
Both entities will look into cooperative efforts across four main areas, which include digital inclusion and youth empowerment, online safety and digital well-being, humanitarian response and disaster preparedness, and advocacy and public engagement.
Regarding the digital inclusion focus, the groups will investigate expanding digital education, literacy, and skills training, specifically for youth in marginalized areas. These competencies also provide the basis for young individuals to comprehend, use, and benefit from artificial intelligence safely and responsibly.
The collaboration will review methods to reinforce the Digital Youth Hub in Pakistan, created by the Prime Minister Youth Program alongside UNICEF, by using technical expertise from JazzWorld to aid learning, employment, and participation in the digital economy.
The organizations will also review programs to encourage safer digital participation for children, adolescents, and girls through online safety education, digital literacy, and measures against online harassment, abuse, and other technology risks. Simultaneously, they will evaluate using mobile connectivity and digital platforms to improve disaster readiness, spread early warnings, and enhance access to information for communities impacted by emergencies.
Syed Zaheer Mehdi, Group Chief Corporate and Regulatory Affairs at JazzWorld, stated: "Bridging the digital divide is essential to bridging the emerging AI divide. Young people need access, skills and safe digital environments to benefit from the opportunities AI can create. Our intent to partner with UNICEF reflects a shared ambition to expand opportunities for underserved communities, protect children online and strengthen community resilience. By combining our technology and connectivity capabilities with UNICEF's expertise in child rights and development, we hope to help build the foundations for an inclusive AI future in Pakistan."
The proposed alliance will additionally examine public advocacy, cause campaigns, customer and worker participation, and related efforts supporting children, youth, women, and marginalized populations. Through this project, JazzWorld and UNICEF seek practical methods to assist communities in learning, earning, remaining safe, and handling crises, supporting a resilient Pakistan.
