Lahore's Environment Department resumed its anti-smog gun operations across the city, positioning the equipment at pollution hotspots based on ground conditions and air quality readings. Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb directed the initiative, which operates under the supervision of Environment Director General Abdullah Nayyar Sheikh.

According to the Director General, the agency relies on a data-driven strategy to position anti-smog units where air quality demands urgent intervention. Field crews keep track of conditions throughout the municipality and direct the equipment toward designated high-pollution zones.

The Director General explained that the initiative forms part of the agency's strategy to manage particulate matter and dust during the smog period.

“The deployment of anti-smog guns is being linked with field monitoring so that the available machinery can be used where it is most needed,” he said.

Priority placement targets sectors registering elevated pollution metrics, specifically sites showing high Particulate Matter 10 concentrations, based on departmental data.
