An elevator operator sustained serious injuries when a lift plunged from the third floor to the ground level during maintenance work at the Islamabad High Court.
Reports indicate that the worker, named Wajid, was fixing the elevator when the door jammed, which led to the sudden drop.
Wajid sustained a fractured hip and received hospital transport for medical care. Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar subsequently went to the medical facility to inquire about his health status.
This occurrence marks another elevator mishap at the Islamabad High Court.
Seven individuals, such as lawyers, were inside an elevator that plummeted from the second floor down to the ground level on February 6, 2025. Maintenance personnel used a key to open the doors and safely rescued all passengers.
A previous incident occurred on August 25, 2023, when senior lawyer Latif Khosa along with 16 additional people got stuck inside a broken elevator at the high court. Maintenance crews freed them following a confinement period exceeding 30 minutes.
