National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency officials in Lahore dismantled a major criminal operation yesterday, arresting suspects who operated an organized cyber fraud ring targeting both domestic and international citizens with fake bank Point-of-Sale devices.

Investigators explained that the group stole funds using a coordinated scheme involving unauthorized credit and debit card data. They processed illegal payments through fake POS machines that looked like real devices, according to the agency.

Agents seized hardware from the suspects during the raid, recovering one laptop, two mobile phones, and five dummy POS devices.

Police registered a First Information Report against the detained individuals under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016, including the 2025 amendments and sections of the Pakistan Penal Code. Officials are continuing to investigate the wider network.

NCCIA Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi announced a firm policy against offenders after the arrests. He warned that the agency offers zero tolerance for cyber fraud, adding that safeguarding public life and property is the primary focus for the NCCIA.
