Faheem Akram, the main individual accused in a Rs. 35 billion, or US$126.8 million, scheme selling fake US postage stamps to buyers in America, was taken into custody by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency.
During a media briefing in Lahore, Atif Amir, who serves as the NCCIA Additional Director for the Lahore Zone, revealed the capture. American officials previously put up a $100,000 bounty for details resulting in his apprehension.
Operatives stated that the accused operated LabelsBank.com between August 2023 and September 2026. The platform distributed over 5 million bogus US postage stamps priced at $2 apiece. The scheme supposedly used 16 bank accounts linked to the wife, brother, sister, and maternal aunt of the accused.
Authorities filed the matter under FIR No. 246/2026 and deployed eight dedicated squads to probe sites across Sindh, Islamabad, and Punjab. These units executed raids at 35 spots and interrogated 47 individuals.
To track down the accused, officials used modern technology and artificial intelligence to review 122 call detail logs, 50 IMEI tracking files, alongside footage and audio from 120 cameras during a 10-day surveillance mission.
A joint inquiry panel was established to review the fake stamp transactions, money flows, and potential accomplices within the syndicate. The panel comprises Deputy Directors Hassan and Waqas Saeed, SHO Najam Bajwa, along with Sub-Inspectors Tanveer and Nabeel.
