Ubisoft confirmed that the highly requested New Game Plus mode will be added to Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced next week, after months of anticipation. The announcement appeared on the official Assassin's Creed social media account via a popular 'The Great Gatsby' meme, though no details about the mode's content were given.

The studio first promised the feature in July. Despite the delay, the remake has sold over 3.5 million copies in its first 14 days, a figure that held up even after extensive datamines and leaks revealed the original announcement earlier this year.
A Complete Engine Rebuild & Missing DLC
Fans have questioned why New Game Plus, a top post-launch priority, took three months to appear. Game Director Richard Knight said the delay is linked to a total rebuild of the title in the Anvil Engine, meaning no code from the 2013 version could be reused; only original assets served as reference or temporary placeholders.
Ubisoft continues to add fresh content, with post-launch updates delivering brand-new quests. Players also uncovered early-stage cut content in the game files, including a scene with an older Edward Kenway back in England.
The original Freedom Cry expansion is absent from the remake, sparking speculation that Ubisoft may release it later as downloadable content.
What Lies Ahead for the Franchise
Looking forward, Ubisoft's roadmap remains busy. The next mainline title, Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe, is slated for a 2027 reveal and will be set in the Holy Roman Empire during the Witch Trials, featuring a darker tone and witchcraft-infused action-RPG gameplay.
Rumors also suggest that the very first Assassin's Creed game could be the next candidate for a "Resynced" remake.
