The Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM) has called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to re-examine the draft Auto Policy 2026-31. The group says that reduced duties on imported cars and parts, together with concessions for new-energy vehicles, could endanger domestic manufacturing and as many as 1.5 million jobs.

PAAPAM highlighted that more than 1,200 local firms produce components worth Rs700 billion for vehicle assemblers, and it has asked for a meeting before the policy is finalized.
