Pakistani official sources and Iranian media reports indicate that Field Marshal Asim Munir, who serves as Pakistan's Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, will travel to Tehran on Tuesday.
This trip comes after previous discussions earlier in the summer involving Munir and Iranian authorities aimed at stopping further escalation and getting the Strait of Hormuz open again.
Pakistan has seen its diplomatic footprint in the Iran conflict grow, as Field Marshal Asim Munir has taken on the position of an important communication link between Washington and Tehran.
Back in August, during an earlier trip to the Iranian capital, Munir held meetings with high-ranking Iranian figures such as President Masoud Pezeshkian while Islamabad worked to restart frozen talks.
Just a day prior to this trip, Pakistan halted commercial trade at the Taftan and Gabd-Rimdan border gates with Iran because of border management and security worries. This action left cargo trucks stuck and worried business owners, though officials from both nations called the stoppage temporary.
