Pakistan prolonged the ban on Indian aircraft using its airspace for an additional month, pushing the expiration date to November 24, 2026. The Pakistan Airports Authority released a fresh Notice to Airmen to prolong the restriction, which earlier was scheduled to end on October 24.

Based on NOTAM No. A0590, Indian carriers, planes registered in India, and any aircraft leased, operated, or owned by Indian operators or airlines remain barred from entering Pakistani airspace. Military flights are also included in this restriction.

The Pakistan Airports Authority shared this extension on its official X account as well.

Ban to Remain in Place Until 4:59 AM on November 24

The updated Notice to Airmen started at 7:45 PM on Saturday, October 17, and stays active until 4:59 AM Pakistan time on November 24. Both of the flight information regions in Pakistan, Lahore and Karachi, fall under this rule.

This action marks the most recent extension in a sequence of monthly renewals. Pakistan previously prolonged the airspace restriction for India until October 24 last month.

Airspace Closed Since April 2025

Indian aircraft have faced airspace closures over Pakistan since April 23, 2025. Following that move, India shut its own airspace to Pakistani carriers on April 30, 2025.

Billions of rupees in costs have hit Indian airlines because of the shutdown, forcing them to fly longer paths on numerous international journeys. Air India reported a record loss of $2.8 billion earlier this year, citing the Pakistani airspace closure as a partial factor.
