Topline Research stated on Tuesday that Pakistan lowered the high-speed diesel crack spread to $38 per barrel from $41.89, based on a pricing sheet published on the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority website.

Initially, the prior rate of $41.89 per barrel was established for a two-month duration and scheduled to end on October 20, 2026.

Topline Research noted it also verified the updated rate with a refinery firm. Refineries and companies reportedly accepted the new formula, which should stay active for 60 to 90 days, while additional details remain pending.

The research company stated it plans to seek verification from additional refineries and OGRA prior to publishing an update.

This adjustment decreases the high-speed diesel crack spread by $3.89 per barrel, which is roughly 9.3%, compared to the earlier figure.

The crack spread measures the price variance between crude oil and refined petroleum items. Yet, current details do not clarify the impact of this change on domestic diesel prices, refinery revenue, or consumer fuel expenses.

Previously, the government intervened in diesel pricing by limiting the profit refineries generate when turning crude oil into high-speed diesel. During August 2026, authorities restricted the diesel margin to $41.89 per barrel for an initial two-month timeframe to reduce the effect of high international refining margins on local fuel costs.
