Electronic passports are now being issued to Pakistani nationals residing across the United Arab Emirates by the Pakistani Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai, starting from October 23, 2026. A 5-year passport with 36 pages is priced at AED 145, which equals Rs. 11,020. Meanwhile, the most expensive option reaches AED 2,540, amounting to Rs. 193,040 at a conversion rate of AED 1 to Rs. 76, for an urgent 10-year document with 72 pages being replaced following a second loss.

Current machine-readable passports issued by Pakistan will stay valid until they reach their printed expiration dates. Citizens wanting a renewal are instructed by officials to wait until their current travel documents drop below six months of remaining validity. To successfully qualify for the new electronic document, all applicants must submit both their given name and family name.
