Workers at PPL asked company leaders and the board of directors to reverse a directive shifting the Karachi office to Islamabad, cautioning that the shift might raise expenses and disrupt workers along with their dependents.
Insiders informed ProPakistani that PPL sent transfer notices to 50 workers, instructing them to check in at Islamabad by October 25, 2026.
ProPakistani earlier covered the intention of PPL to shift operations to Islamabad, and the recent notice confirms this relocation is now official.
Staff members and their households requested a review of the choice and suggested holding talks with personnel prior to moving forward.
As of October 1, 2026, the Karachi workplace had about 500 workers, while Islamabad had roughly 80. Karachi personnel cautioned that shifting the larger branch was unpractical and advised looking into other choices, such as keeping locations in both urban centers and using digital coordination tools to handle workers.
Staff members feel dissatisfied regarding the possible monetary effects of the shift, noting that Karachi monthly rent sits near Rs. 4 million, whereas the planned Islamabad site would demand Rs. 50 million every month.
Insiders noted that transfer costs would reach Rs. 2-3 million per worker for both the business and personnel, creating a total expense near Rs. 4 billion.
Additionally, projected expenses for buying or moving office furniture and gear could exceed Rs. 1 billion.
Personnel urged executives and the board to carry out an open staff poll to find out how many workers agree to move to Islamabad.
They additionally asked for consultations with personnel across various management tiers before executing a final choice.
