Rawalpindi divisional administration instructed the Communication and Works Department to finish two underpasses along Peshawar Road by November 2026, while construction on the Rs. 8 billion projects stands at about 60% completion.

Salman Ghani, the Commissioner of Rawalpindi, gave these orders while inspecting the work sites at Charing Cross and Race Course Chowk. He checked the ongoing progress and told officials to keep the current work pace steady while upholding quality standards.

During the visit, the superintending engineer of Highway Circle No. 1 updated the commissioner by reporting that crews finished major structural elements like piling, capping beams, and deck slabs. Laborers are currently busy with excavation, barriers, utility relocation, road development, and drainage systems.

Northbound traffic will use the Race Course Underpass, which includes two lanes and three-level road lanes designed to ease movement and turns. Meanwhile, southbound traffic will use the Charing Cross Underpass, featuring two underpass lanes and two-level road lanes. Officials are additionally widening and rehabilitating the roadway stretching from Bungalow No. 276 to Raffay Mall.

To decrease roadside blockages and smooth out traffic, the administration is moving utility services underground. Ghani further instructed staff to keep up proper traffic management, set up alternative routes, and apply anti-smog measures to manage air pollution and dust at the building sites.
