Estimated expenses for the Rawalpindi Ring Road project reached Rs50.4 billion after the Punjab Development Working Party cleared the third revised PC-I.
Officials included the building expenses for the Thalian broad-based interchange in the updated scheme. Group-I construction of the Ring Road alignment is finished, Group-II tolling booth system tasks continue, and Group-III land purchase for the Thalian interchange is done.
Authorities formally asked Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to set a date for opening the Ring Road.
Crews finished building the 38.3-kilometre corridor and four interchanges at GT Road Banth, Chakbeli Khan, Adiala, and Chakri, ending roughly 15 years of delays for the initiative.
During an October 12 session in Lahore led by the Punjab Planning and Development Board chairman, the Punjab Development Working Party signed off on the Rs50.4 billion third revised PC-I.
Initially, the project carried a PC-I value of Rs26.9 billion. The first revision pushed that figure to Rs32.9 billion, and the second revision raised it to Rs46.4 billion before the latest approval at Rs50.4 billion.
Control of the Group-II tolling setup shifted from One Network Company to the Punjab Ring Road Authority, which handles future upkeep and functioning.
Builders finished the physical structures for the tolling booths, while construction crews keep working on way stations and the Intelligent Transport System.
