A 23-year-old woman was left with several injuries after three armed men tried to sexually assault her in Ankara Park, Islamabad, Dawn reported.

According to police sources, she was strolling through the park when the suspects approached, brandishing guns and taking her mobile phone. They tried to drag her toward a nearby wooded area, but she fought back, sustaining wounds including facial injuries.

The attackers fled after failing to overpower her, and the victim later filed a police report, prompting the registration of a case.

In a separate episode reported last week, a 26-year-old woman was gang-raped in the Gangal area after returning home from work late at night.

Police said she arrived at Gangal stop when a group of local men intercepted her, escorted her to a nearby forested spot, assaulted her, and then fled.

The survivor was taken to a hospital for a medico-legal exam, and authorities lodged a case under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with rape.
