BYD's Shark 6 DMO pickup has secured a maximum five-star safety rating in the latest Euro NCAP tests, confirming its strong performance in crash protection and advanced safety technology.

The vehicle's results showcase BYD's all-round approach to new-energy vehicle safety, meeting Euro NCAP's definition of a five-star score as "overall excellent performance in crash protection and well equipped with state-of-the-art crash avoidance technology".

The official report, which builds on an assessment last year by ANCAP and adds Euro NCAP evaluations, highlights good protection in frontal-offset, full-width rigid barrier and side-barrier tests. The Shark 6 earned overall Adult and Child Occupant scores of 82% and 86%, and was praised for protecting 6- and 10-year-old dummies in side-impact tests and for its child-presence-detection system.

In the sections covering other road users and safety-assist systems, the pickup's autonomous emergency braking (AEB) performed well with cyclists and motorcyclists, delivering a 74% score for Vulnerable Road Users. Euro NCAP gave the Safety Assist area an 87% rating, noting strong AEB response to other vehicles and crediting lane-departure support and speed-assist that automatically sets a limiter based on local limits.

Executive Vice President Stella Li said: "BYD is a technology company, and our 120,000 R&D engineers are constantly striving to find the next innovation that can improve people's lives. But our key strength is our ability to take these ideas out of the lab and put them into the hands of customers - to turn intelligence into reality. The BYD SHARK 6's Euro NCAP result is further proof of how our engineering and electronics skills can come together to achieve this - and all in a pick-up that's capable as a workhorse, as comfortable as an SUV, powerful and agile on and off road, and efficient enough to drive up to 90km on electric power alone. We know that the BYD SHARK will be yet another important vehicle in our global range, breaking down further barriers to new-energy vehicle adoption."

Designed for buyers who want an efficient pickup that can handle many electric-only trips while meeting work and adventure demands, the Shark 6 seats five in a double-cab layout and includes Vehicle-to-Load capability via two onboard power sockets.

The Super Hybrid DMO powertrain pairs two electric motors to deliver 436 HP and 650 Nm of torque, achieving 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. Its 29.5 kWh Blade Battery, integrated with Cell-to-Chassis protection, works with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine to provide a combined range of 800 km on a full charge and tank.

Standard equipment features vegan-leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats and a 12-speaker Dynaudio system. Technology highlights include a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel with head-up display, a 15.6-inch infotainment screen with navigation, voice assistant, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, remote cabin climate control via the BYD app, a 50 W wireless charging pad, exterior puddle lights, front and rear parking sensors with a 360° camera, and keyless entry and start.

Customer Offer: To mark the Shark 6's first anniversary in Pakistan, BYD is providing a one-year free service maintenance package, covering parts and labour, for full-payment bookings made until 31 October 2026.
