Retailers in Quetta and other Balochistan areas are charging between Rs. 630 and Rs. 700 per kilogram for chicken, a sharp rise from Rs. 430 at the start of the week, according to local reports.

The price jump has added strain to families already coping with high costs for staples such as flour. Some shoppers say certain shopkeepers list lower prices but deliver less weight than advertised.

Shop owners attribute the surge to halted supplies from Sindh and Punjab and to successive diesel price hikes that have raised freight costs for trucks. They also note that local poultry farms face steep feed expenses, limiting their ability to lower chicken rates.

Traders add that climbing feed prices and other farming costs have pushed production expenses higher, further feeding the upward pressure on chicken prices. Consumers throughout Balochistan continue to feel the impact as chicken prices keep climbing.
