Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga was targeted by Barcelona fans swinging flag poles towards his head during wild El Clasico celebrations.

The French midfielder found himself at the centre of ugly scenes after setting up Kylian Mbappe on his 100th goal for Real, providing the dramatic late winner in a 2-1 victory at the Nou Camp.

Camavinga was mobbed by his team-mates near the home supporters after Mbappe struck in the 87th minute to send the travelling Madrid contingent into dreamland, though the celebrations turned nasty as furious home fans swung their flag poles towards the players.

Footage circulating on social media showed several poles waved dangerously close to Camavinga's head as he celebrated with his team-mates, before fellow Frenchman Aurelien Tchouameni quickly intervened by shielding Camavinga with his arm and ushering him away.

The flashpoint occurred moments after Camavinga produced a brilliant piece of play to help Jose Mourinho's side snatch all three points, entering the contest in the 80th minute to replace Bernardo Silva with the scores level at 1-1.

The midfielder needed just seven minutes to make a decisive impact in one of football's biggest fixtures, as Jude Bellingham sparked the move with a sensational piece of skill before combining with Arda Guler, who released Camavinga into space.

The 23-year-old surged past Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi before squaring the ball for Mbappe to tap into an empty net.

The dramatic winner sparked extraordinary scenes on the touchline as Mourinho celebrated with a knee slide while his coaching staff poured onto the pitch, marking the perfect ending to a pulsating encounter.

Mbappe had opened the scoring in the 41st minute when Yan Diomande's dangerous cross was diverted against the French striker by Gerard Martin and into the net.

Barcelona came roaring back after the break to equalise through Raphinha in the 61st minute, with the Brazilian latching onto a clever reverse pass from Pedri following a short corner before firing past Andriy Lunin.

Hansi Flick's side pushed for a winner while Lunin produced a superb save to deny Martin and Lamine Yamal threatened the Madrid defence, but Mourinho's men remained dangerous on the counter-attack.

The result ended Barcelona's perfect start to the league campaign after nine consecutive victories, leaving Barcelona top with 27 points from ten matches while Real sit third on 24 points, cutting Barcelona's advantage from six points down to three.

For Mourinho, it was a statement victory on his return to El Clasico, though the ugly scenes involving Camavinga threatened to overshadow a famous night for the visitors.
