Apple introduced a brand new iPad mini featuring an 8.5-inch OLED screen on Monday, building the tablet with a lighter and thinner body driven by an A20 Pro processor. Pricing for the fresh tablet begins at $699 for the Wi-Fi version and $849 for the Wi-Fi and cellular configuration, with the corporation unveiling the hardware days ahead of a Wednesday gathering called the "Pro and Tell" event.

Measuring 5.4 mm thick, the updated tablet comes in two color choices.

The screen reaches a peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits, which is more than double the prior model, alongside a full screen brightness of 600 nits for SDR and HDR material and a 2 million:1 contrast ratio. According to Apple, the iPad mini suits dim-light environments well.

Buyers can also select a new nano-texture display option to cut down on glare under bright lighting, which is a capability already present on the iPad Pro. Other additions to the refreshed tablet include a 12-megapixel center stage front camera, quicker wireless and cellular links, and fast-charge capabilities.

Using OLED technology, the Super Retina XDR display provides pixel-level lighting control for darker blacks, stronger contrast, and P3 wide color gamut support for brighter colors.

An "Acoustic Display" is also included, which Apple states improves sound quality during gaming, video viewing, or content editing. The company notes that built-in woofers crafted specifically for the screen produce heavier bass and increased volume for fuller sound.

The latest iPad mini debuts with the next generation of Apple Intelligence and Siri AI, capable of using personal context to locate needed items, answer inquiries, and comprehend onscreen content.

Apple reports that driven by a 7 core GPU with Neural Accelerators inside every core, the tablet delivers up to 4.5-times faster AI performance compared to the older version. The A20 Pro also contains a 6 core CPU that provides up to 60% faster multithreaded performance for daily functions like photo editing and running multiple apps.

Customers can place pre-orders starting October 28, and the device goes on sale November 6.
