The Federal Board of Revenue issued an update stating that the agency will provide another extension for submitting income tax returns covering the tax year 2026.
Insiders previously informed ProPakistani that officials planned to push back the date, which has now been officially confirmed.
This marks the second time this year that authorities are moving the submission deadline due to formal appeals from multiple trade associations and tax bar groups.
Filing citizens encountered technical slowdowns, system bugs, and various errors while trying to upload their documents. The IRIS portal repeatedly failed to process submissions correctly for numerous users over the past few weeks.
Earlier, the Pakistan Tax Bar Association formally requested the agency to push the deadline to December 2, citing continuous system crashes within the IRIS portal, mistakes inside return forms, and issues regarding the minimum tax calculation formula.
Authorities confirmed that a total of 6.9 million tax returns have been submitted up to this point.
