The Federal Board of Revenue pushed back the income tax return deadline for the tax year 2026 from October 15 to October 31, 2026, as stated in a recent announcement.

The regulator stated in a recent notification that the final date for submitting returns is now October 31, 2026, for individuals who previously faced a September 30, 2026 deadline that was already postponed to October 15.

The agency explained that trade bodies and tax bar associations submitted requests that prompted the new schedule.

This adjustment marks the second time this year that authorities extended the submission period due to appeals from trade organizations and tax bar associations.

Citizens have submitted 6.9 million tax returns up to this point.

Numerous technical issues, including bugs, system slowdowns, and software glitches, disrupted the current filing season. The IRIS portal previously struggled to process submissions correctly for numerous users.
