Conservation efforts inside Lahore's Walled City have experienced slowdowns because of financial shortages, leading the Walled City of Lahore Authority to ask the Punjab government for extra cash to finish projects by the December 2026 target.

Current Phase-I tasks feature an underground parking facility at Neela Gumbad priced at Rs. 2.4 billion, which needs an extra Rs. 500 million. Another underground parking site at Nasir Bagh, valued at Rs. 1.6 billion, requires an additional Rs. 600 million.

The agency also asked for Rs. 600 million to upgrade Shah Alam Market. This plan involves fixing building fronts, placing power cables underground, and fixing the drainage network.

An additional Rs500 million is necessary to upgrade the look of old gates and move hanging wires beneath the ground. Locations involve Yakki Gate, Taksali Gate, Mochi Gate, and the Spice Market.

In a separate matter, underground parking structures and retail spaces proposed at Mochi Gate, Sheranwala Gate, and Taksali Gate demand another Rs. 13 billion.

Financial delays have dragged down momentum and might increase total project expenses. The WCLA asked provincial authorities to disburse the necessary money to maintain the timeline.

WCLA conservation director Azeem Dad stated he believes the tasks will finish inside the assigned period. He mentioned that the agency applied for money and operations will speed up after the cash arrives.
