The Hub Power Company Limited (PSX: HUBC) announced that a major electrical fault occurred in the main transformer of Unit 1 at China Power Hub Generation Company Limited (CPHGC), taking the unit offline for repairs and inspection.
HUBCO stated in a Pakistan Stock Exchange filing on October 21 that the power station consists of two coal fired units providing a total capacity of roughly 660 MW.
Situated in Hub Tehsil, Gaddani, Lasbela District, Balochistan, the site features a built-in coal jetty as well.
CPHGC runs the facility as a partnership between China Power International (Pakistan) Investment Limited and Hub Power Holdings Limited, which operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of HUBCO.
HUBCO noted that Unit 1 will stay shut down for electricity production while crews handle the assessment and fixing of the issue.
