Campus authorities at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur prohibited TikTok along with other social media platforms on university grounds following multiple grievances about students being filmed and shared publicly without authorization.

An official notice released by the Directorate of Student Affairs confirmed the prohibition applies to TikTok, Snack Video, and comparable applications.

University officials stated the directive was issued after receiving numerous reports regarding unauthorized recordings of female students being uploaded to digital networks.

Management explained the measure was enacted to safeguard student privacy and personal dignity.

The administrative notice cautions that incidents involving the production or sharing of improper material through these platforms will go directly to the disciplinary committee, and offenders will face formal penalties.

Earlier today, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency cautioned that generating fake online profiles for women, distributing private data or photographs, and engaging in digital extortion are illegal cyber offenses.

The agency mentioned in a social media release that extortion, publishing private photos, and creating fraudulent profiles violate legal statutes, while encouraging citizens to speak out against digital harassment and submit evidence.

According to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, building a secure digital environment remains a collective duty, prompting the public to use the 1799 helpline for reporting harassment, fraudulent accounts, image misuse, and extortion, while encouraging victims to report incidents.

Police in Mirpur, located in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, detained a suspect last week for allegedly posting a girl's video to TikTok via a fraudulent account without permission.

This incident came to light on September 25, 2026, when the victim's family reported to Mirpur Senior Superintendent of Police Khurram Iqbal that someone filmed their daughter as she traveled to an academy alongside her brother.

Senior Superintendent of Police Iqbal instructed the Mirpur Cyber Crime Unit to probe the matter, leading officers to track down the fraudulent TikTok profile and name Essa, who lives in Bang Rarah within Islamgarh tehsil, as the suspect.

Islamgarh Station House Officer Umair Rasheed and his officers captured the suspect, and law enforcement noted that inquiries continue to determine all details of the situation.
