University of Karachi Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Wasim Qazi met with Chinese Acting Consul General Feng Deheng at the Chinese Consulate General in Karachi to pitch the creation of a Pakistan-China Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Cybersecurity and a Pakistan-China Museum, aiming to deepen partnerships in higher education, science, technology, innovation, and cultural sharing.

Both officials talked about growing academic ties between the two nations by way of shared research studies, student and teacher exchange plans, tech advancements, and programs encouraging Chinese language and culture.

Dr Qazi pointed out that the upcoming 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and China, as well as the 75th anniversary of Karachi University, ought to yield concrete educational, scientific, and cultural milestones.

He highlighted the importance of starting collaborative research, tech innovation efforts, and professional training courses across sectors such as agriculture, biotechnology, food technology, maritime economy, energy, pharmacy, microbiology, and sociology. According to Dr Qazi, the planned artificial intelligence and cybersecurity hub would serve as a base for joint studies, high-tech progress, student instruction, and teacher training.

Feng praised the university for advancing educational partnerships between the nations, mentioning its Confucius Institute, and voiced a strong commitment to deepening scholastic links between Chinese and Pakistani higher education institutions.

The discussion also touched on building a Pakistan-China Museum on campus to guard and display the common history of both countries by storing historical files, academic materials, key papers, and cultural objects.

A separate idea brought up during the talks involves creating a Hall of Fame to honor notable figures who advanced education and learning. Dr Qazi stated his dedication to turning these ideas into real programs, collaborative studies, and official pacts.

He intends to travel to China in November to speak with officials from top Chinese universities regarding potential deals focused on scientific study, modern technology, academic swaps, and school partnerships.
