Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Saturday denounced British Energy Secretary Ed Miliband for the way he sat during a Friday meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Istanbul, calling it a breach of formal diplomatic etiquette.
Asif posted on X that Miliband's leg was crossed so the sole of his shoe faced Dar, a detail he said was inappropriate.
The comment highlighted the need for proper conduct and cultural awareness in official diplomatic settings.
The encounter occurred on the sidelines of a gathering of foreign ministers discussing regional issues such as the US-Israel conflict with Iran and heightened tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.
Although Asif focused on the seating issue, the talks centered on deepening Pakistan-UK bilateral cooperation.
Both parties agreed to boost cooperation, though no further specifics on any agreements were disclosed.
