The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Doctors Association (PDA) requested a thorough audit of the Sehat Card Plus programme, separate probes into reported financial mismanagement within public medical facilities, and the hiring of about 600 district specialists to fix hospital staff shortages throughout the province.

PDA President Dr Amir Taj Khan presented a 20-point reform plan to Adviser for Health Lieutenant General (retd) Dr Nigar Johar Khan, urging major changes in healthcare management, medical personnel regulations, and public health service provision.

Medical teaching institution boards of governors alongside other health agency boards should be dissolved according to the association, which also insisted that future placements rely entirely on merit and professional skill.

Furthermore, the group requested high-level probes concerning reported corruption and monetary mismanagement, urging severe penalties for anyone proven guilty.

An independent review of Sehat Card Plus was requested by the PDA, which suggested moving management of the scheme straight to the provincial government rather than keeping it with the State Life Insurance Corporation.

Additional demands included a secret review of pharmaceutical contracts alongside an evaluation of how supplies are purchased.
