Sanitation and local services across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa face a province-wide boycott threat from municipal employees because of overdue salaries and pensions.
Thousands of active and retired workers within Tehsil Municipal Administrations still have not received their October wages, according to the Local Government Grand Alliance, because the Finance Department failed to disburse the necessary money.
Staff explained that local bodies cannot cover payroll and pension costs due to withheld TMA octroi shares and other pending funds.
Workers noted that continuous payment delays create severe financial stress for municipal personnel, sanitation crews, and retirees throughout the province. Certain staff members and pensioners have reportedly waited months for their dues.
The coalition cautioned that garbage collection and standard municipal functions will completely halt across KP if authorities fail to fix the problem.
