Following a classroom roof collapse in the Deir Colony area of Peshawar, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government established district-level inquiry committees to evaluate private school buildings throughout the province for basic safety standards.

Within three days of the notification being issued, the Elementary and Secondary Education Department instructed these committees to deliver detailed inspection reports along with recommendations.

Provincial authorities ordered these checks across the entire region to spot structural dangers and safeguard both students and teachers following the incident.

District monitoring officers will head the panels, which also consist of education department personnel and a representative from the Communications and Works Department.

The teams will check the physical condition, structural stability, and general suitability of private educational facilities, according to the official notification. This evaluation applies to roofs, walls, columns, beams, foundations, staircases, and other main structural parts.

Buildings will be sorted into three groups based on the results: safe, needing repairs, and potentially unsafe, helping officials spot locations requiring urgent intervention.

Dangerous structures will prompt recommendations from the committees for necessary repairs, rehabilitation, and structural strengthening. Immediate threats must be reported to district authorities without delay, and panels have the power to suggest restricting entry or stopping the use of risky buildings.

The project seeks to find hazardous structures, fix building risks quickly, and offer safer classrooms for educators and pupils. The general state of private school facilities and future steps will emerge once the reports are turned in.
