Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore convened a meeting with transport representatives, including bus owners, Mazda, mini-goods, truck and tractor-trolley groups, on road safety and smog on a recent date.

The gathering examined steps to curb accidents and air pollution, and CTO Lahore stated that driver fitness certificates will now accompany vehicle fitness certificates.

Mobile medical camps will be organized to conduct medical and psychological examinations of drivers, checking eyesight, colour blindness, overall medical fitness and mental health.

CTO Lahore instructed transporters to fit cameras in their vehicles to deter overspeeding and reminded them to keep rear lights and reflectors operational at night.

Transporters were told that tractor trolleys carrying sand or soil must be covered with tarpaulins, otherwise violations will be recorded, and joint teams will be set up to act against smoke-emitting vehicles.

Strict adherence was also ordered for fixed entry times and restrictions applying to freight vehicles in Lahore.

The delegation of transporters included Tanveer Ahmad Jatt, Malik Masood, Salman Gujjar, Muhammad Kamran Khan, Muhammad Aamir, Muhammad Pervaiz, Muhammad Anwar Chaudhry and Shakeel Butt, among others.
