City Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi stated on Thursday that motorists in Lahore who commit any of 21 major traffic violations will face criminal charges instead of traditional fines.
Media reports indicate that these offences involve unauthorized blue lights, illegal police-style flasher lights, and green number plates.
First Information Reports will also be filed for driving on the wrong side of the road and tampering with number plates through altering, concealing, or printing identities.
Reckless behavior, road blockages, and negligent driving are included in this policy, according to the CTO. Additional offenses triggering criminal cases comprise speeding, dangerous drifting, erratic zigzag driving, extreme carelessness, and disorderly conduct.
Shirazi explained that the policy addresses severe infractions endangering public safety, noting that violators in these groups will no longer escape with financial penalties.
