Chief Traffic Officer Abdul Rahim Shirazi instructed officers to file cases against operators of heavy vehicles entering Lahore during banned hours, aiming to prevent crashes and protect travelers. Traffic personnel received orders to closely watch commercial traffic, public service vehicles, and heavy transport on municipal streets during forbidden periods.
Traffic police stated that heavy transport cannot enter Lahore in the daytime, with entry permitted solely between 11 pm and 7 am. These bans affect trucks, trailers, tractor-trolleys, and construction equipment during daylight hours. Shirazi cautioned that authorities will initiate legal proceedings directly against any transport operators caught breaking these rules. He noted that heavy transport enters the city in stages, and oil tankers can only enter during specific scheduled times. These steps look to control heavy transport movement, lower crash hazards, and enhance road safety across Lahore.
