Meezan Bank (PSX: MEBL) has transferred 7.5 million active cards, every merchant and its entire payment-processing function to BPC's SmartVista solution.

This shift includes card-based payments, point-of-sale activity, online commerce, QR code payments, gateway services, fraud controls and instant payments.

SmartVista can handle in excess of 1,500 transactions per second at peak times. Meezan also processes roughly 2 million Raast transactions each day and operates a network of more than 100,000 QR codes.

By moving to a single system, the bank unifies payment services used by cardholders and merchants throughout Pakistan.

Faiz ur Rehman, Group Head of Information Technology at Meezan Bank, said the move will back the ongoing expansion of its card portfolio, merchant offerings, digital payments and Raast, noting the switch was achieved through joint effort between the bank and BPC while keeping operations uninterrupted.

Ali Imran Khan, Chief Information Officer at Meezan Bank, explained that the migration aims to reinforce the bank's digital payments backbone and enable future growth, adding that the platform will sustain processing across all channels without disruption.

Furrukh Ali-Baig, Managing Director for Pakistan, Nepal and Iraq at BPC, stated the solution delivers processing capacity, fraud protection and instant-payment features to underpin Meezan Bank's digital payment services.
