Misbah-ul-Haq, who previously captained and coached Pakistan, is taking charge as head coach of the Sudurpaschim Royals for the third edition of the Nepal Premier League.
Social media channels for the franchise announced his hiring prior to the competition, set for October 26 to November 21.
Misbah shared his enthusiasm about collaborating with the squad and witnessing local fan devotion.
"I am very excited to be joining the Sudurpaschim Royals as the head coach for the upcoming season," he said.
He mentioned hearing great things about local cricket passion and wanting to join that atmosphere.
The Sudurpaschim Royals regularly perform well, securing the top spot in the league table during the first two editions, though they fell in both finals and still seek their inaugural championship.
As the new season begins, the Lumbini Lions hold the defending champion status.
Extensive international and franchise experience comes with Misbah, who guided Islamabad United to a Pakistan Super League championship in 2016 and captained Pakistan to 26 wins across 56 Tests, helping the team reach number one in ICC Test rankings in 2016.
His T20 career numbers include 162 appearances, 3,491 runs, a 33.89 average, and one century.
Peshawar Zalmi employed him as batting coach earlier in the year as they secured the PSL 11 title and broke a nine-year championship drought.
Along with coaching the national side in the past, he recently left his post on the national selection panel.
