NAB Karachi summoned responsible officers of the School Education Department on October 20, asking for details of appointments made between 1989 and 2020.
In a letter, the accountability bureau noted that the Sindh High Court's Larkana bench issued an order on June 30, 2026, and that a joint investigation team met on June 15, 2026.
The letter said the probe started after the Larkana bench directed it, because the School Education Department has not supplied the complete records to NAB since 2020 despite repeated letters and reminders.
NAB warned that the ongoing failure to hand over the records is holding up compliance with the court's directives, and that the documents are needed to pinpoint the officers and officials responsible for illegal appointments.
School Education Department officers have been ordered to appear in person before the joint investigation team at NAB Karachi on October 20 and to bring full information on appointments of teachers, technicians and other staff made from 1989 onward.
