Lahore Safari Park set up Pakistan's initial giraffe café, giving guests a chance to hand-feed giraffes while sipping coffee or tea close to the wildlife.

Built around an animal theme, this venue forms part of the park upgrade. Officials reported that work is progressing to welcome the public shortly.

Park visitor Zainab Ali called the chance to sip coffee, feed the creatures by hand, and sit close to them a special outing. She voiced hope that the spot opens soon so people can use the new amenity.

Another guest, Abdul Rehman, toured the giraffe habitat via an electric vehicle. He stated the outing felt like visiting an African forest, adding that he eagerly anticipates hand-feeding the animals and drinking tea inside the wildlife-styled environment.

Ten giraffes currently live at Lahore Safari Park, split into two males and eight females. South Africa sent the animals to Pakistan in September 2025. Workers constructed dedicated rooms and pens for them, alongside constant observation to safeguard their health.

Staff keep the housing block temperature at 25 degrees Celsius since giraffes handle high heat poorly.

Dr Warda Gul, a veterinary officer at Lahore Safari Zoo, explained that giraffes are social creatures that like grouping together. They slowly adjust to new environments and get used to people nearby.

She mentioned the creatures receive a proper diet containing green fodder, minerals, and other vital nutrients, alongside tree leaves they enjoy eating.

Dr Gul reported that all park giraffes show healthy growth and development, with quick height gains. Management expects the animals might reproduce at the location eventually, which would represent a major milestone for giraffe breeding in Pakistan.
