National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) received the "Sustainable Infrastructure Initiative of the Year - Pakistan" accolade at the Asian Banking & Finance (ABF) Corporate & Investment Banking Awards 2026, acknowledging its role in structuring and arranging a PKR 850 million syndicated project finance facility to back solar energy systems on cellular tower sites.
The award, presented in Singapore, celebrates exceptional performance, innovation and excellence in corporate and investment banking throughout Asia. NBP was singled out for its advisory, structuring and financing assistance to Infraelectric (Pvt.) Limited (IFPL), a renewable-energy solutions firm.
Through the deal, NBP advised, structured and secured the PKR 850 million Islamic financing for IFPL, aimed at a clean-energy and decarbonisation push that will install solar photovoltaic units on cellular tower locations. The project seeks to make telecommunications infrastructure cleaner and more energy-efficient while aiding the shift to renewable power.
Usman Shahid, SEVP & Group Chief of the Corporate & Investment Banking Group at NBP, said, "This recognition by Asian Banking & Finance reflects NBP's growing role in enabling sustainable infrastructure and mobilizing capital towards projects that create both economic and environmental value. We remain committed to working with our clients and partners to develop financing solutions that contribute to a more sustainable and resilient Pakistan."
The award highlights NBP's dedication to backing sustainable infrastructure and encouraging investment in renewable-energy and decarbonisation projects via innovative financing structures.
