Cyberpunk 2077 fans now have an avenue to revisit Night City together through a newly announced PC modification called NightCoop. CD Projekt Red released the Phantom Liberty expansion in 2023 and patch 2.3.1 in November 2025, followed by a visual PS5 Pro update in April 2026, before moving attention to Cyberpunk 2.

Community projects are sustaining the title as Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 releases on Netflix this week.

Explore Night City with 8 Players: Shared Combat & Friendly Fire

NightCoop turns the single-player role-playing game into a shared world supporting up to eight users at once. Every participant controls an individualized custom V rather than established figures like Johnny Silverhand or Jackie Welles, allowing for varied apparel and distinct skill progression. A voting mechanism lets the group decide story dialogue paths together.

The creators designed a real-time combat setup where all participants face the same foes and incoming projectiles. To balance the difficulty of having eight people, the modification enhances enemy artificial intelligence instead of just increasing health pools, making adversaries use grenades and block incoming strikes.

An optional player versus player toggle permits combat between friends. Being defeated in this mode places the user into a downed status awaiting revival without destroying progress or world states.

When Can You Play the Cyberpunk 2077 NightCoop Mod?

The creators have not shared a public launch date for the complete version. Closed testing is underway for the prologue and Act 1, with future plans to cover the entire narrative campaign.
