Two office workers were filmed abandoning their desks to watch South Africa play Australia in a Test match, then quickly returning to work after broadcasters caught them.

The pair were inside a building with a view over Cape Town's historic Newlands while the match unfolded.

TV cameras focused on the fans, who had rolled their chairs away to get a clear sight of the action from a prime location.

Realising they had been spotted, the men promptly went back to their tasks.

Former South African Test captain Graeme Smith, who was commentating, laughed and said, "Back to work boys. We should probably establish where they are. They are offices that are on the ground."

Social media users rallied behind the workers, criticizing the camera crew.

One user wrote, "Bro these cameramen are such snitches."

Another added, "Test cricket is the single best sport in the world to watch while working, I don't blame them."

A third chimed in, "Can't blame these guys for avoiding their desk jobs when the cricket is on."
