The Higher Education Commission put a strict prohibition on every type of smoking inside its buildings throughout Pakistan, which covers open spaces and guest houses on the property.

The agency explained that the restriction applies to cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, vapes, hookahs, heated tobacco items, and any other smoking methods.

Officials cautioned that penalties await any individual who breaks this new rule.

Professor Dr. Zia Ul Haq, SI, serving as the HEC Executive Director, stated via a message that the commission maintains communication with leaders of all higher education institutions in Pakistan.

He noted that most of these universities and colleges already prohibit all smoking on their grounds and facilities.

The commission also requested assistance from all individuals to preserve a clean, healthy, and smoke-free setting.
