Pakistanis can now have their documents attested online without going to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) or its liaison offices, after a digital attestation system was launched on October 12.
The new service includes both general and Apostille attestation, and applicants receive electronic certificates by email once they finish the steps and pay the fee.
A ministry circular dated October 14 states the system is accessible at the ministry in Islamabad and its liaison offices in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and Gujrat.
Users may upload their documents through the designated portal, which follows a model similar to the Higher Education Commission's electronic attestation service and aims to boost convenience, transparency and efficiency.
In rare cases, applicants might still need to appear in person, depending on the nature of their applications.
MOFA officials have been instructed to urge applicants to use the online platform for both general and Apostille attestation.
Applicants can log onto the portal to submit documents and complete the required formalities.
