On Thursday, the Pakistan Stock Exchange experienced a heavy sell-off that caused the benchmark KSE-100 Index to drop 2,006 points, representing a 1.21 percent decrease, ending the session at 163,924 due to growing geopolitical worries and climbing global oil prices.

Early in the day, the index rose by 249 points before turning downward sharply and hitting an intraday low after shedding 2,148 points.

Market participants stayed worried as fears grew that increasing oil costs and worsening geopolitical friction might harm the economic stability of Pakistan.

Topline Securities reported that a shortage of encouraging market catalysts drove the negative direction, with selling pressure growing heavier throughout the trading hours.

Major weights dragging down the benchmark included ENGROH, UBL, HUBC, HBL, and PTC, which together pulled down the KSE-100 by about 752 points.

Market turnover stayed steady, showing roughly 367 million shares traded across the board, while the total value of trades reached nearly Rs. 17.9 billion.

The session closed firmly downward, adding to recent losses as traders weighed international risks and the possible effects of expensive oil.

Future investor confidence will depend on changes in international oil markets and geopolitical events on the following day.
