A police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was suspended in Peshawar after a video of him assaulting a sweeper at the Khyber Super Market went viral on social media.
The clip shows the officer grabbing the sweeper by the hair and shoving him around.
Reports say the sweeper had released water onto the road while cleaning a commercial plaza, which angered the police official and led to the physical attack.
The footage drew attention online, putting the officer's behavior under scrutiny.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Farhan Khan noticed the incident and ordered an investigation.
Police representatives said an inquiry will be launched and strict measures will be taken against the involved officer.
The suspension occurs as authorities examine the case and decide on further disciplinary steps.
